AAM Bike Section
Welcome to Aylesbury Advanced Motorists Bike Section.
We are the IAM-affiliated group that operates in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas. The group exists to raise peoples riding up to the standard required to pass the Advanced Motorcycle Test. The training and structure of the group is dedicated to this task.
However there is a thriving social side too, including group runs, evening meets and so on. This means that AAM is an attractive proposition not only for people wishing to attain a higher riding standard, but also for existing Advanced Riders. Keeping a pool of Advanced Riders as members helps these people to maintain their own riding up to the level reached for the Test, and also provides a pool of members willing to help with group organisation. All members, associates, friends and family are invited to come along to our monthly Events. Details appear at the main web site Events page.
The IAM Advanced Motorcycling Test is based upon the principles of Motorcycle Roadcraft. The Test lasts about 90 minutes and is designed to be an exhaustive test of your abilities as a motorcyclist. It is over unfamiliar roads and you will be closely observed by your Examiner, a current or retired Police Class 1 rider, who will follow you on his own machine (i.e. not a Police bike).
The Test should cover all types of road and will normally be taken on a weekday, so the examiner can see you ride in normal traffic.
Our web site will tell you more about the activities we enjoy. If you have any questions or concerns about advanced rider guidance our Senior Observer will be delighted to answer any questions that you have.
Membership Details and Application Forms can be found here.
