Aylesbury  Advanced  Motorists
Aylesbury Advanced Motorists (AAM) are one of over 200 local groups of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). We offer advanced driver and rider guidance in Aylesbury and the surrounding area.
Like all local IAM groups, our focus is on helping to improve individuals' driving and riding skills. Usually after a number of one-to-one sessions associate members reach a standard high enough to pass the nationally recognised IAM advanced driving test.

Our group was started in 1985 and has grown steadily since. We have monthly events, often driving or riding related, delivered by external speakers or our own knowledgeable members. Our bikers enjoy monthly social rides and numerous longer 'ride outs' throughout the year.

In addition to improving driver and rider skills, our group is dedicated to promoting road safety within the area that we cover.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is the UK's largest independent road safety charity, dedicated to raising driving standards, engaging with the road-using public and influencing road safety policy.

Established in 1956, the IAM is today best known for the advanced driving test and the advanced driving course (Skill for Life). Recognising that the majority of collisions are caused by driver error, the advanced driving test was introduced. The specific objective of the course and test is to improve driving standards using the principles of advanced driving, pioneered - and applied with great success - by the Metropolitan Police.
To date, over 350,000 people have taken the advanced test and over 300,000 of those have passed and gone on to become IAM members.
